Today we start a monthly look at what’s happening at your Lincs Inspire venues – the leisure centres, libraries and Grimsby Auditorium. This new feature forms part of Move Together – our new campaign that sees us are joining together with local organisations to promote what they do. Move Together is supported by Sport England to show people what’s on in North East Lincolnshire for all ages.
From membership offers, to Roald Dahl Day, heritage and exercise – Key Lincs Inspire highlights include:
- Joining offer: Lincs Inspire’s membership covers adults, juniors and couples. Pools, gyms, classes and much more under one membership, with flexibility to use multiple sites. For offers, available until September 18, go to: https://lincsinspire.com/
- Libraries: so much more than books: A new wellbeing project is bringing health into the library service, with fun, sociable activities alongside practical support including health checks and weight management programmes. Funded by Arts Council England, for details search for Wellbeing Chapter on the Lincs Inspire website. https://lincsinspire.com/
Other library events include Roald Dahl Day celebrated at the weekly Shake Rattle and Read groups from Monday September 7 September! Lincs Inspire Libraries also provide free access to thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks, including some Roald Dahl classics! There’s still time for children to sign up to this summer’s Reading Bingo. It ends on 28 September, and children are rewarded for their reading, with some great prizes up for grabs: eyes down for a full house. Plus, eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines count too!
Running your own business? The Business & IP Centre (BIPC) is hosting a free online session this month with the Library Service on protecting your intellectual property. More details at https://lincsinspire.com/libraries-archives/bipc
- Heritage on your doorstep: For Heritage Open Days, North East Lincolnshire Archives will be hosting a free exhibition on 18 and 19 September at Grimsby Town Hall, exploring the area’s monuments of faith. Documents showcasing how the area’s churches, chapels and landmarks will be on display looking at how they have shaped local communities for generations. A fascinating look at the stories built into our streets.
- Wellbeing, tailored to you: Lincs Inspire’s new cardiac rehabilitation programme is a 16-week exercise course designed specifically for people recovering from a cardiac event or heart surgery. This programme joins a wide range of wellbeing referral programmes, all taking place within a supportive community helping residents build habits that work and last.
- Grimsby Auditorium: Go to https://grimsbyauditorium.org.uk for full details of what’s on, including In The Night Garden, Emerald Storm and The Robbie Williams Tribute Concert Live.
- Sport development back in the classroom: The sports development team is in schools this month to deliver Bikeability courses. The team also offers one-to-one cycling sessions. Courses are perfect for children and adults learning to ride for the first time, anyone wanting to rebuild confidence, or young riders preparing for their upcoming Bikeability sessions at school.
