Support available as GCSE and A-level results are released

Thousands of learners across North East Lincolnshire will soon be receiving their exam results after months of hard work and dedication.

A-level and T-level results will be released on Thursday 13 August, followed by GCSE results on Thursday 20 August.

While many learners will be celebrating their achievements, others may be feeling uncertain about what comes next. Whether you’re leaving school, considering further education, looking for training opportunities or thinking about a career change later in life, support is available across North East Lincolnshire to help people of all ages take their next step.

Careers and education support

North East Lincolnshire Council’s Young People’s Support Service (YPSS) offers free careers information, advice and guidance for young people aged 16 to 18, and up to the age of 25 for those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Whether students need help understanding their options, contacting colleges or training providers, or planning their next move, YPSS advisers are on hand to help. Students, parents and carers are encouraged to contact the team by calling 01472 326294 (Option 1) or emailing YPSS.MIS@nelincs.gov.uk.

Additional advisers will be available on GCSE results day, the day after (Friday 21^st) and throughout the following week at the Molson Centre (Kent Street, Grimsby, DN32 7DL), as well as at Grimsby Institute on Thursday 20^th August.

Adults aged 19 and over can also access free careers advice through the Careers Café in Freshney Place. No appointment is needed, and visitors can speak to qualified advisers from the council’s Adult Careers Service about learning, training, employment and career progression, as well as receive support to overcome barriers such as childcare and access to training. Mental health support

Results day can bring a range of emotions, and it’s important that young people know they don’t have to cope alone. Free, confidential support is available from a range of local services, including:

• Compass GO – one-to-one emotional health support for young people. Call 01472 494250.
• Young Minds Matter – mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people. Call 01472 252570.
• School Nursing text service – confidential advice on emotional health and school transitions for young people aged up to 18. Text 07507 331620.
• Shout – text ORANGE to 85258 for free, confidential 24/7 support if you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health concerns.
• Kooth – free online counselling and emotional well-being platform for children and young people aged up to 18, visit www.kooth.com.
• Single Point of Access (SPA) – this is a crisis line that provides confidential advice and support, available 24 hours a day. Call 01472 256256 and select Option 3 for mental health support.
• NHS Talking Therapies – offers a range of therapies aimed at helping those 16 or over to deal with stress, anxiety or depression. You can self-refer online or by calling 01472 625100.

Support doesn’t end on results day.
