North East Lincolnshire Council is starting a new crackdown on littering this January and needs your help.
The Council is calling on people to report litter problems in their neighbourhoods so it can target enforcement patrols.
If littering is a problem in your area, please report it using the online form.
Remember to include details such as the location and the time of day when making a report. And if it’s littering from a vehicle, a description of the vehicle and its registration number will help.
Cllr Ron Shepherd, portfolio holder for Safer and Stronger Communities at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:
“Enforcement officers routinely patrol different wards in the borough, with your help they can focus their attention on problem areas.
“Most people want their neighbourhood to look clean. Litter makes the place look a mess, it harms wildlife and the environment. It can also attract rats and other vermin.
“Please tell us about litter problems where you live or work so we can target our patrols.
“The Council spends about £1.5-million per year keeping the streets, parks and beaches clean.
“Anyone caught littering faces a £100 fine. In 2021, officers fined 1,303 people for littering offences.
“With 979 litter bins in convenient locations around the borough, you are never far from a bin in North East Lincolnshire.
“It would be better for everyone if people put their litter in a bin or took it home.”
