To facilitate the Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority Mayoral Election count, some temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be put in place.

On Thursday 1 May, from 9pm until approximately midnight, the following roads will be closed:

  • Town Hall Street – closed for the whole length
  • Town Hall Square – (Doughty Road – Town Hall Street) – Closed except access for election staff only
  • East Street – (Town Hall Street – Cooperage Court) – Closed.

Whilst these closures are in place, there are two additional changes around the Town Hall to help traffic flow:

  • East Street – (Pasture St – Cooperage Court) – Temporary two-way vehicle movements.
  • Pasture Street – One-way operations on Pasture St (Victoria St W – East St) reversed.

Access for residents at the Cooperage development on East Street will be maintained, although access will be via Pasture Street and East Street.

From 9pm on Thursday, 1 May, buses will not serve stands H,J,K,L in the Riverhead bus station and stops St James 1 and St James 2 opposite St James Church due to road closures for the Mayoral election.  The nearest stop will be opposite Home Bargains on Frederick Ward Way.

These bus stops will re-open on Friday, 2 May, as normal.

Services heading towards Cleethorpes will use their usual stops on Bethlehem Street, George Street and Victoria Street.

Pedestrians access will be maintained at all times.

All restrictions and changes will be lifted as soon as practically possible.
