Some of the temporary toilets brought in for the summer season on Sea Road, Cleethorpes, will now remain until November, North East Lincolnshire Council has announced.

The extra toilets were initially installed  in June to cater for Armed Forces Weekend and then for the busy summer season.  They were due to be removed on September 9.

The council has now agreed to retain two standard and one disabled toilet until November 4. These will be open seven days a week at the current operating times and will remain fully serviced by local provider Lincs Loos. They will be funded through the Levelling Up Fund.

The old toilet block on Sea Road was closed ahead of demolition as part of the redevelopment of this area of the resort.

The toilets in Grant Street are also open after recommissioning earlier this year, and people are reminded that there are also public toilets available at St Peter’s Avenue, Kingsway and the Boating Lake. Many food and beverage outlets also have facilities that can be used by paying customers.

Cllr Hayden Dawkins, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and the Visitor Economy, said: “It makes sense to retain some toilet provision at this end of the prom later into the year,  especially as people have become used to their location.”
