From Monday 22 July for up to 10 days, Cadent Gas will be on the Sea Road construction site to re-route their pipeline.
The work is being done so that the pipeline will be clear of the foundations for the building when they are installed.
For up to 10 days, there will be traffic management at the Sea Road, Central Prom, North Prom junction. This will reduce the lanes to single width, and temporary pedestrian crossing lights will be installed at the zebra crossings to help people cross the road. The footpath at the corner of Sea Road / Central Prom will also have a minor localised diversion through the works.
The work will take place in the day time, from 07:30am to 5pm and there will be some noise from the work.
There are no expected changes to bus services or coach services as a result of the works.
A spokesperson for the works said: “We’re sorry for the short notice of these works, but we have had to fit in with Cadent Gas schedules. We have also had to apply for special permission to do these works during the summer. These are essential works to make sure that the building construction is not delayed.”
Northern Powergrid will also be diverting their electricity cables in the coming months for the same reason. As soon as a date is known for this, it will be published.
