Work behind the Memorial Gate in Cleethorpes starting next week

12:15 pm, Wednesday, 20th September 2023 - 2 years ago

General

Work will begin on Monday 25 September for approximately six weeks to repair the walls and steps leading down to the Central Prom behind the Memorial Gate in Cleethorpes.

Excess shrubbery around the area will be cleared and removed and then scaffolding will be put up so that the walls can be repaired and re-rendered. The steps will be repaired or replaced where necessary as part of the project.

Due to the nature of the work, the steps will be closed off to public use for the full duration of the works. The closest alternative pathways between the Central Prom and Pier Gardens are available at Jonny Donuts or ramped access at the Pelican waterfall or Brighton slipway.

The three businesses at the steps will remain open as normal, though there may be localised restrictions at times.

The work is due to be completed in early November, ahead of Remembrance Day activities in the resort.

The Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
