A remarkable 13-year-old from Grimsby has been recognised for his outstanding fundraising efforts and dedication to raising awareness of life with a stoma.
Jax, who lives with a stoma himself, has become a passionate advocate for greater understanding and acceptance, helping to educate others, challenge misconceptions, and break down the stigma often associated with stoma care.
In his spare time, Jax raises funds for Colostomy UK and for A Bear Named Buttony, a cause that is especially close to his heart. Through his determination and hard work, he has already raised an incredible £40,000.
Despite his young age, Jax has shown exceptional commitment to supporting others. Drawing on his own experiences, he uses his voice to inspire and encourage people living with a stoma, proving that life can still be full, positive and empowering.
Alongside his fundraising and advocacy work, Jax manages daily medical challenges and has recently received an autism diagnosis. However, he continues to face every challenge with resilience, positivity and a desire to help others.
His kindness, courage and dedication have made a lasting impact both within his local community and further afield.
In recognition of his achievements, Jax was presented with the Community Award at this year’s SEND Awards ceremony.
Ann-Marie Matson, Director of Children’s Services at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:

“Raising £40,000 at such a young age is an incredible achievement, but equally important is the awareness he has raised and the positive conversations he has encouraged about living with a stoma.
“Jax is making a real difference to the lives of others, and he is thoroughly deserving of this recognition.”
Jax said: “It means so much to win the Community Award.
“Living with a stoma isn’t always easy, but being able to help other young people and even adults going through the same thing makes it all worthwhile.
“I don’t do this to win awards, but to be recognised means so much to me.
“I’m really proud to support Colostomy UK and A Bear Named Buttony.
“I share my journey to help others on social media platforms, ‘Jax’s stoma Journey’, which also reaches people all over the world and supports them too.”
