Lots of young people living in North East Lincolnshire have received a free chocolate Easter Egg, thanks to customers of Morrison’s Supermarket in Laceby.

Children growing up in care, and young people with care-experience, have received the sweet treats after Morrison’s Laceby, along with colleagues and customers at the local supermarket, donated more than a hundred eggs.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire, thanked the supermarket for supporting children and young people in care:

“I’m really grateful to the staff and customers of Morrison’s Supermarket for once again supporting our drive to make sure that each child in our care, and young people who have recently left our care, get an Easter treat.

“This is the third year that Morrison’s have worked with us to help make Easter that little bit special for our young people.

“Each year we endeavour to ensure that all of our children in care, and those who have grown up in care and are now living independently, receive a chocolate egg at Easter, and I thank Morrisons staff and customers for the part that they have played in this effort.”

Ann-Marie Matson, Director of Children’s Services at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:

“I’m thrilled to see that people in our community are once again stepping forward to support our children and young people with experience of growing up in care.

“To many of us, receiving an easter egg is a small gesture, but to a child or young person who has grown up away from their family, it can have a significant impact.

“Thank you to the customers of Morrison’s for helping to make Easter fun for so many of our children and young people.”

Morrisons Community Champion, Theresa Horner, said: “We’re proud to be able to support our local children and young people with this donation.

“Thanks to the generosity of Morrison’s colleagues and customers, this is the third year that we have been able to make this donation.

“Each year Morrisons make charitable donations to support fantastic causes, and I’d like to thank our colleagues and customers for continuing to make this possible.”
