A by-election for Immingham Town Council, Central Ward has been requested in response to a Casual Vacancy Notice.  There is one vacant seat. If contested, the by-election will be held on Thursday 14th August 2025.

Standing for Election

A Nomination Pack and Information Pack on standing for election as a Town Councillor are attached below:


Submission of Nominations

The election begins with publication of the Notice of Election on Thursday 10th July 2025. Nominations may be delivered between the hours of 10am and 4pm on the day after the publication of the Notice of Election but not later than 4pm on Friday 18th July 2025. There is no power to accept late nominations.

Please note that the following papers must be delivered by hand:

  • Nomination paper
  • Home address form
  • Candidate’s consent to nomination

The following papers can be delivered by hand or by post:

  • Certificate of authorisation
  • Request for a party emblem

Any written notice of withdrawal of Candidature must be delivered to the Elections Team by 4pm on Friday 18th July 2025.  The Statement of Persons Nominated will be published not later than 4pm on Monday 21st July 2025.

If the number of validly nominated candidates is less than or equal to the number of seats to be filled, those candidates will be declared to be elected – provided that the number constitutes a quorum for meetings of the council. The Returning Officer will issue a notice of uncontested election to the Clerk.


Count

The verification of all ballot papers will take place at the conclusion of the poll from 10pm onwards on Thursday, 14th August 2025 at the Grimsby Town Hall.

The count detail will be confirmed following close of Nominations.


Absent votes

If you require a Postal Vote for the election on 14th August 2025, the application must be received by the elections team no later than 30th July 2025 at 5pm.

Proxy vote application forms must be received by the election’s office by no later 5pm on 6th August 2025. 

Please note that if you currently have a postal vote and would prefer a proxy vote instead, your postal vote must be cancelled before 30th July 2025 at 5pm. Your proxy voter must be on the electoral register, able to vote in these elections and will be required to cast your vote at your normal polling station.

Voter Authority Certificates applications must be received by the elections office by no later than 5pm on the 6th August 2025.

Please note that if your application is received after this time, it will not be processed until Monday 18th August 2025. If you have received confirmation for a Voter Authority Certificate before 5pm 6th August 2025 but have not received your certificate by election day please contact the office on 01472 324160.
