North East Lincolnshire Councill will be installing new, faster and more reliable public network  PCs in all four of its libraries next week.

This means that there will be no access to the public network in any of the library branches, which are operated by Lincs Inspire, on Monday and Tuesday, November 25 and 26,  so that the installations can take place.

The need for an  ICT upgrade was one of the issues highlighted in responses to the Phase One consultations for the ongoing Library and Archives Review, which took place from January to March this year.

The new PCs will not only be faster and more reliable, but they also have the latest software and will have larger monitors. Each library will also have one 34″ monitor and a larger keyboard for visually impaired/disabled access.

Cllr Hayden Dawkins, NELC Portfolio Holder for Culture and Heritage, said: “We have listened to what our library users have told us they wanted. These new PCs will give our customers a much better experience, with faster speeds and greater reliability.

“We apologise for the downtime whilst we install the new system but we are certain that it will be appreciated by users in the long term.”
