North East Lincolnshire Council and its delivery partner, Equans, are teaming up with R-Evolution to host a series of Doctor Bike workshops to ensure your bikes are in safe working condition.

The events will take place across several venues in the borough and will help residents get their bikes out of the garage and back on the road.

The Doctor Bike team will be attending each event to carry out free bike safety checks. Their team of trained cycle mechanics will be able to fix most minor repairs for free, whilst you wait or give you advice about how to go about getting more serious problems fixed. So, whether it’s a squeaky brake or a slow puncture that is slowing you down pop along and see the team.

The events will take place from May through to October, with the first sessions now available to book from Thursday 29 May to Wednesday 18 June.

  • Grimsby Leisure Centre – Thursday 29 May – 2pm to 5.30pm
  • Duke of York Gardens – Tuesday 3 June – 2pm to 5.30pm
  • Capes Recreation Ground – Wednesday 4 June – 2pm to 5.30pm
  • Waltham Parish Council – Thursday 5 June – 2pm to 5.30pm
  • Franklin College – Wednesday 6 June and 18 June – 2pm to 5.30pm
  • Grant Thorold Park – Tuesday 10 June – 2pm to 5.30pm
  • Immingham Civic Centre – Wednesday 11 June – 2pm to 5.30pm

Tim Gooseman, Senior Transport Officer at Equans, said: “It’s extremely important that bikes receive regular safety checks and is something which can be overlooked by many bike users. We hope that offering the free events will encourage people to use the service, especially children before the new school year. These events also provide general information about cycling in the borough which is beneficial to everyone.”

To take part, please book a free ticket online at North East Lincolnshire Council & R-evolution Events and Tickets | Eventbrite. Priority will be given to those who attend with a pre-booked ticket.

Participants can book tickets for up to three bikes, each bike must have its own ticket. There will be a 30-minute time slot printed on each ticket, please try and be there within that period to help keep any queues to a minimum.

The Doctor Bike events are regularly sold out so please cancel your ticket if for any reason you are no longer able to attend the event. That way, your space can be given to someone else.

Keep your eyes peeled for more dates releasing soon.
