The Pier Gardens project is one of three projects in Cleethorpes due to come on stream in the coming months.
Recent work has been around the technical drawings required for the tender of the construction works. This tender has now closed and due process is being followed to appoint a contractor for the work.
Whilst most of the gardens do not require a planning application, one element that does is the play structures, which will be around the centre of the garden area, due to their height. That planning application has been validated and will be live on the planning portal shortly. Search for DM/0882/25/FUL on https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/planning-applications/planning-portal/.
The new look gardens will feature several areas:
- An “arrival” area at the Sea Road end of the gardens. This area also features a small skate park, designed by international specialists, Betong Park, in collaboration with local community.
- A “play” area – which will feature both water play and play structures.
- An “education” area – which will feature a small amphitheatre to encourage talks and presentations in the gardens
- A “contemplative and remembrance” area – based around the memorials that are already in the gardens, close to Remembrance Gate.
