Immingham & Habrough has been selected to receive £20 million over 10 years as part of the national Pride in Place Programme. North East Lincolnshire Council is seeking an Independent Chair for a community-led Neighbourhood Board that will help guide long‑term investment, strengthen community voice, and contribute to meaningful change. The community-led Neighbourhood Board will be part of the national Pride in Place programme, and the Independent Chair will bring local voices together, set a clear shared vision and champion our place.
The Immingham & Habrough investment will focus on three core objectives: Thriving Places, Stronger Communities, and Taking Back Control. Your leadership will help unlock improvements to local infrastructure and high streets, strengthen community networks, and give residents a bigger voice in local decision‑making.

About the Role
As the Independent Chair, you will:
- Act as a community champion for Immingham, embodying the spirit and purpose of the Pride in Place Programme.
- Convene, lead, and inspire a diverse Neighbourhood Board made up of local residents, organisations, businesses, and partners.
- Ensure that Board discussions are inclusive, balanced, and centred on the community’s priorities.
- Bring together different voices, encourage collaboration, and build consensus to shape the 10‑year Pride in Place Plan.
- Represent the Board publicly, working constructively with the local authority, the constituency MP, and stakeholders.
- Support extensive, meaningful community engagement so that all residents – especially those less often heard – have a voice in shaping the programme.
This is a strategic role, similar to that of a school governor or charity trustee. A small payment may be made to support candidates who otherwise would be unable to commit, as outlined in the national programme prospectus.

Crucially, you do not need to have prior formal board or leadership experience. What matters most is your commitment to improving the lives of local people.
