A North East Lincolnshire baby group is doing everything it can to keep parents and children active throughout the week.

Mini Moshers is an alternative baby group leaning in to owner Jade Fisher’s love of alternative and rock music whilst combining a range of play activities – all led by the children.

Jade started the group with friend Rhea after the pair found they wanted to offer something different to what was already out there. Now, almost a year on, the group regularly meet at local parks and offer various sessions at Sussex Rec Pavillion.

From having fun on soft play to dressing up, there is plenty for children to do when they go to Mini Moshers. This idea of getting people active is something the Council is passionate about with its new campaign Play Together.

Jade said: “There’s a place here for everyone. We’ve got ball pits and soft play for the babies and imaginative play with dress up costumes for the older ones with kids up to five allowed to take part.

“It’s a community space more than anything, but it’s also somewhere you can bring your children.” She added: “We offer baby wipes and nappies if people need them and we’re also able to offer drinks and some food thanks to funding from the Council – which we’re so grateful for.”

In Jade’s eyes, there are far more benefits to the group than meets the eye. “We get out and use all the great parks in the area to keep everyone active. We do a lot of moving in the session too using things like soft play to keep everyone active whilst having fun.”

Someone who has been a fan since she first came to the sessions is Coral Bacon. “Mini Moshers is a village made up of people who can help you and that’s what parents want when they’re bringing up children.”

She added: “It’s massive being outside and when we do trips to park it’s a great positive for us all mentally and physically. We need the fresh air; the kids need the fresh air and it’s great when we come together as a group.”

Councillor Nige Oliver, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care, said: “Groups like these are brilliant not only for the children, but also their parents.

“Playing and Moving doesn’t need to involve a huge run or going to the gym – this is a great way to get active whilst having fun and that’s what Play Together is all about.

“Movement is key for general fitness, health, wellbeing and longevity overall”

The council is keen to help promote registered and verified clubs and organisations encouraging people to be active and play together. If you are part of or run a club that helps promote this, please email communications@nelincs.gov.uk.
