Do you know someone making a real difference in North East Lincolnshire?

Residents are invited to celebrate the people, groups, charities and businesses that go above and beyond for their communities as nominations open for the North East Lincolnshire Civic Awards 2027.

Organised by the Civic Office, the annual awards recognise the borough’s unsung heroes, from dedicated volunteers and foster carers to community champions, environmental advocates, local charities, sports groups and businesses making a positive impact.

Launching this year’s awards, The Worshipful the Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Cllr Marian Boyd, said:

“Every day, people across North East Lincolnshire are making a positive difference in the lives of others. From supporting vulnerable residents and raising money for good causes to improving our environment and creating opportunities for young people, their contributions often go unrecognised.

“The Civic Awards are our opportunity to celebrate these remarkable people and organisations and thank them for everything they do. I would encourage everyone to think about those individuals or groups who inspire them and submit a nomination.

“And please don’t forget about our young champions, young people who go above and beyond to contribute, even in the smallest way to making their communities better. We want you to help us celebrate these people.”

Nominations are now open across nine categories:

  • Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Charity of the Year Award
  • Environment Award
  • Business in the Community Award
  • Sporting and Wellbeing Award
  • Young Community Champion Award
  • Veterans Services to Community Award
  • Foster Carer Award
  • Mayor’s Award

The call for nominations follows another successful Civic Awards ceremony earlier this year, which attracted more than 100 nominations and celebrated some of North East Lincolnshire’s most inspiring residents and organisations.

Among the 2026 winners were Learning 4 Life, Carers Support Service, Grimsby Community Energy, Michelle Wragg, Rebecca Abdullah, Grimsby Ancient Mariners Walking Football Club, Wayne Sanderson and Zakia Khatoon. The prestigious Mayor’s Award was presented to The Trin Centre for its exceptional contribution to the local community.

The Mayor added: “The stories behind our 2026 winners demonstrate the incredible impact that individuals and organisations can have on the communities around them. Their dedication, kindness and determination have changed lives and strengthened neighbourhoods across North East Lincolnshire.

“We know there are many more inspiring stories waiting to be told, and we look forward to receiving nominations that recognise those who make our borough such a special place.”

Residents can nominate individuals, community groups, charities, businesses and organisations whose commitment, compassion and achievements have made a real difference across North East Lincolnshire.
