Help build a brilliant future for Grimsby by submitting an idea to the town’s pilot Growing Together Fund.

The town’s Fund is open to applications until Monday 19 October at 5pm, to support the projects that Grimsby wants to build together.

Two funding pots are currently open for applications.

  • The Give it a Go fund offers grants of up to £10,000. You can apply to this fund if you’re trying a new idea in the town for the first time. (No need to have applied for funding before or have an existing organisation.)
  • The Strengthen & Grow fund offers grant of up to £50,000. You can apply to this fund if you’re work is already up and running and ready for a next step. (For this funding pot, there’ll be time to review your project with technical advisers after you’ve submitted your initial proposal.)

Once applications have closed, funding decisions will be made by volunteer Decision Makers who’ll come together to decide how money is best spent for the Grimsby.

The pilot Growing Together Fund has been designed with the community to support the town’s ambitions and more opportunities to apply will come in 2026.

Jim Elliott was one of the first people backed by the Fund earlier this year. This summer, a panel of 28 Decision Makers from Grimsby funded his guided canoe trips along the River Freshney, one of nine projects they chose to support.

“This was real local people making local decisions, and that felt really different,” said Jim Elliott, aka Grimsby’s Canoe River Cleaner. Jim received funding for his Source to Sea guided canoe experiences, which will begin this autumn.

“It’s a bit like having a jury. A jury is made up of real people, because we’re all intelligent and able to make decisions. Why not us?”

Everything you need to know about applying is on the Growing Together Fund website and you can also email the Fund with any questions: [email protected]
