A trial to introduce no waiting or loading restrictions on collection days in two Cleethorpes streets has been given the go ahead.
An Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) will be introduced in the coming weeks on and opposite the junction of Edward Street and William Street to prevent people parking between the hours of 7am and 2:30pm on any collection days. A single yellow line will be marked on the carriageway and signs installed clearly displaying the restricted times.
The introduction of the ETRO is in response to waste service issues with collecting household waste, recycling and garden waste on Edward Street.
Bin lorries have been unable to access the street on scheduled collection days due to vehicles parking on and opposite the junction with William Street, which has resulted in missed collections.
Following his approval of the ETRO at a meeting on Monday 3 August, Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “We appreciate the frustration of residents when our waste teams are unable to collect their waste, and we’re aware this issue on Edward Street has become more frequent in recent months for residents.
“We’re working at a solution with our regeneration partner, ENGIE, and in response to this, colleagues in highways will be introducing this ETRO with an aim to support the waste service in carrying out their duties.
“This is the first time we’ve carried out a trial like this and officers will be closely monitoring the effectiveness of the trial. Dependent on the results, we may look to make this trial permanent and consider introducing the measures in other waste collection hotspots the service identifies.”
Residents affected by the ETRO will be contacted about the start of the trial in the coming weeks and will be encouraged to share their feedback to support the trial analysis.
