North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner, ENGIE, are encouraging residents with expired blue badges to contact the team to renew.

In line with Government guidance on issuing and renewing blue badges, penalty charge notices (PCNs) are currently not being issued to blue badges with an expiry date of 1 January 2020 onwards.

This relaxation of enforcement on expired badges will be restarting from 1 October 2020. From this date, you will no longer be permitted to use your expired badge.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “Teams are working hard to make sure all expired badge holders are aware of the need to re-apply and avoid receiving a PCN when the guidance changes.

“We’re aware there are many expired badges across the area and we urge these badge holders to start the application process as soon as possible. This will allow sufficient time to process your application and make a decision, with the aim of avoiding unnecessary fines and mitigating an influx of applications when enforcement restarts.”

Residents with expired badges can apply online at Apply, renew or replace your Blue Badge or ring (01472) 313131, option 7 to book a telephone appointment.
