General

The main roundabout works of the £2m B1444 Little Coates/Cambridge Road junction improvement scheme were completed before Christmas and the new roundabout was opened to all traffic.

Some final works to the junction are due to be completed early this year. These include:

  • The reinstatement of the signalised crossing
  • Construction of the bus layby and traffic island alterations.
  • Landscaping
  • Kerbing and footpath repair works
  • Final utility works – until 12 Feb: this is within the existing footpath closure on Little Coates Road.
  • Final resurfacing and markings.

As part of the preparation works for the main resurfacing for the rest of the scheme, there will be temporary traffic lights in place near the new roundabout and further along Little Coates Road from Tuesday 19 January. These will be in place during off peak-times, between 10am-4pm.

There will also be some further coned sections to allow further exploration works Wednesday 20 January however this is not expected to cause significant delay.

February: Localised kerbing and footpath repair works on Little Coates Road (from the new roundabout heading north) will take place from 12 February for 8 weeks, but this is weather dependent.

March: Overnight operations to resurface and put markings on the main carriageway along Little Coates Road (from the new roundabout heading north) is expected to start on the 15 March for 2 weeks. At this point, the car park at Capes Recreation Ground will also be resurfaced. These works are temperature and weather dependent and may change.

There will also be periods where pedestrians may have limited access on the footpaths, but signs will be in place.  Contractors will also assist pedestrians if required.

Our contractor PBS will work with residents and businesses in order to limit the disruption and help them with their needs during these operations.

The majority of the works have been funded through a £1.8m grant from the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, supplemented with funding from North East Lincolnshire Council.
