A bus, cycle and pedestrian only bridge connecting Gilbey Road and surrounding businesses to Europarc is being planned for the Grimsby area to improve public transport for commuters.

Plans have been submitted for the bridge that will connect two key Grimsby business parks and reduce journey distances and times for commuters on the 1, 2 and 20 bus services.

As part of the plans, existing bus services would be re-routed, with an ambition of increasing passenger numbers on the affected routes by delivering a more streamlined and time-saving journey.

The planning application, which will be considered by North East Lincolnshire Council, reveals how the bridge will connect Europarc at Genesis Way with the Great Grimsby Business Park on Laforey Road. The existing cycle and pedestrian route will be upgraded and form part of the bridge.

The plans were drawn up to demonstrate to possible funders the ambition to deliver this scheme and be ready to start, subject to funding being secured.

Officers at North East Lincolnshire Council and ENGIE will use the planning application as a clear intention when discussing with funding bodies their commitment to delivering this scheme.
