Business and investment

The move is expected to support the significance number of people who work on the docks and for those businesses in the surrounding area.

Initially the site, which will be situated at the end of North Quay Road on the North Wall on Grimsby docks, will be established for workers to collect home testing kits so they can carry out twice weekly COVID tests.

The lateral flow tests which will be distributed from the docks site can detect the virus in people who are not showing symptoms (around 1 in 3 people are asymptomatic) and can produce a result within about half an hour. A test collection slot can be booked here: lft.nelincs.gov.uk.

Anyone over 16 years of age can now access regular testing following a recent Government announcement. Assisted testing is available at Grimsby Town Hall, Immingham Civic Centre and the Knoll in Cleethorpes. Alternatively, you can collect a home test kit from one of our collection sites. Please visit lft.nelincs.gov.uk for more information.

Businesses with more than 10 employees can arrange regular (twice weekly) testing for their employees by registering via the Government’s online portal at www.gov.uk/get-workplace-coronavirus-tests. The deadline to register by is Monday 12 April.

Businesses with fewer than 10 employees should encourage their workers to arrange to collect home testing kits from a local testing site.

To book a test or arrange to collect some home testing kits, visit lft.nelincs.gov.uk.
