A taxi driver in North East Lincolnshire has had their license revoked after failing to disclose that they had been disqualified from driving due to a prior conviction.
The driver was convicted for driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of drugs. This conviction resulted in a 12-month driving ban.
They failed to then disclose this conviction to North East Lincolnshire Council’s licensing team and continued to operate as a taxi driver.
At a meeting of the Council’s Hackney Carriage Sub Committee, Councillors voted to revoke the driver’s license due to the seriousness of the offence and the failure to declare their convictions.
Councillor Stephen Harness, Chair of the Hackney Carriage Sub Committee, said: “We take these matters very seriously. Passenger safety is our top priority.
“The majority of taxi drivers in our area take their job very seriously and abide by the highest of standards.”
