Fishing Heritage Centre
Please be aware: Works to Ross Tiger will begin on Monday 5 September 2022. The ship will be closed for a number of weeks. Updates will be provided.
When the early railways connected Great Grimsby to London’s famous fish markets in 1848, the town began an astonishing development into the World’s Premier Fishing Port! Fresh fish was now available nationwide and a national dish of Fish and Chips became possible.
Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre is a multi-award winning attraction which will transport you back in time to the 1950’s heyday of this famous port. Carefully crafted sets and original preserved trawler interiors capture the atmosphere and essence of a remarkable way of life in one of the most dangerous occupations in living memory.
You will experience this twentieth century saga by signing on as a crew member and travelling in their footsteps – leaving your 1950’s Grimsby home for a trip to the perilous Arctic fishing grounds and returning home to the comfort of the Freeman’s Arms public house!
Don’t miss the opportunity to tour the magnificent M.F.V. ROSS TIGER – the earliest diesel engine side trawler preserved in the UK! The ship is preserved in a permanent mooring outside of the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. Tours offer a unique opportunity to see first-hand what it was like to be aboard a trawler in what is often described as Britain’s most dangerous job.
The sights, sounds, smells and drama will leave you with a whole new respect for the men who, for centuries, have pitted their strength against the elements to bring home their catch.
This Arts Council accredited museum is a five times winner of the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence and a member of the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame. It is also a winner of the Sandford Award to Heritage Education and holds the Visit England Quality Rose Marque.

Cleethorpes Play Trail, Ross Castle, Waterfall, Maze
Sea Front Gardens is situated in the main tourist area of Cleethorpes on the sea front near the Pier. On the landward side of the area is Alexandra Road and on the seaward side, Central Promenade. When visiting the area you actually see three areas.
To the north of Sea Road is:-
Dolphin Gardens – this has trees, flower beds and shrubs. It is dominated by a central piece of art work of an anchor with dolphins.
Leaving Dolphin Gardens you are in:-
Sea Road – this has a central island of gardens.
After crossing Sea Road you enter:-
Pier Gardens – here you enter a large tarmac area with two wall gardens in the centre and to the left a wildlife area. As you go further into the gardens you pass trees, shrubs, and flower beds. When you come to the centre of the gardens there is a waterfall cascading from the top of the gardens down onto Central Promenade. To the rear of the waterfall is a putting green and crazy golf.
Still travelling south you pass more flower beds, trees, shrubs and a maze. You then come to a war memorial dedicated to the crews and ground staff of RAF North Coates. Finally at the most southern end of Pier Gardens is Ross Castle a Victorian folly dating to around 1885 when Pier Gardens was first built.

Climbing Wall
Cromwell Road fire station in Grimsby now boasts a set of new community rooms which the public are able for members of our community to use free of charge.
Among these facilities are an allotment project and a new climbing wall.
Community safety advocate Jo Peart is leading the scheme, said “The fire service is at the heart of the community so it’s something we’re keen to do to become more involved with residents and local organisations, Ideally we’d like to set up some games for people who may be feeling lonely and would like to come and have a natter, and possibly make some new friends.
“We’re also hoping to get young people in to use the traversing wall, which could also be a way of getting schools in so we can educate children about first aid and fire safety.”
Nick Tharratt, the officer responsible for public safety in North and North East Lincolnshire, said: “This is a great opportunity for the service to integrate its activities into the community with other organisations.
“Collaboratively we can make people much safer by working more efficiently.
“We have already had a fantastic response and have taken a number of bookings.”
If you would like to book any of the station’s facilities, call 01472 243712.

Lazer Adventure
Lazer Adventure is a futuristic challenging game based within the top two floors of our entertainment centre at Fairworld. It is a cool interactive combat gaming experience taking lazer adventure to the next level. Your laser cannon fires harmless infra red beams (like your TV remote does). Which register scores on the packs of your opponents when you hit them.
There's no physical contact or impact involved whatsoever so it's all just fun.
Kinda like in an indoor play centre you can swing on ropes, scramble through ball lagoons and over cargo nets, plus slide down a huge drain pipe to a whole new level! With pumping music, flashing lights and swirling fog this is the ideal laser tag arena for those who usually find the lack of physical activity in such games frustrating! One is usually bound by no climb and no run rules, so this is refreshingly active war zone!
Booking is required so call ahead!

Greenheart Social Enterprise
About Us
Greenheart is a social enterprise established in 2007. we work with schools, youth clubs, community groups and charities to provide workshops, create outdoor spaces and manage projects that have a positive impact on people and planet.
Our ethics are the permaculture principles of People care, Earth care and Fair share. We are not for profit and aim to have positive impacts on the people and communities we work with as well as caring for local green spaces. Permaculture is an innovative framework for creating regenerative ways of living: a practical method for developing ecologically harmonious ethical, human-scale and productive systems that can be used by anyone, anywhere.
We aim to be able to work with any group and can work in any space. Our set up is mobile.
Greenheart are specialists in green woodworking. Green woodwork is traditional woodland crafts using hand tools enabling participants to use creativity and craft to develop confidence.
Food growing is something we are passionate about, we have installed vegetable gardens in educational settings and community spaces. We are currently creating an educational food forest in the heart of Nottingham. The beneifts of gardening and food growing for well-being are well proven, after years of growing the delight of a seed germinating is still greatly satisfying. Empowerment is one of our biggest aims as an organistion.
Pat has been green wood working for over 20 years after being involved in and inspired by our wonderful sister project, Galgael in Scotland. He has deisgned many a wonderful space and inspired numerous young people by giving them skills which have helped them grow.
We are well aware of the benefits to well-being through traditional crafts, horticulture and simply being in nature. Eco-therapy is something we are passionate about.
We run a range of practical workshops which are an exciting and informative way to engage children and adults. Some if these are Forest schools for children’s and adults, family permaculture education, woodworking, food growing education.
Workshops can be run in local woodlands, our city base or can be set up in any outdoor space.
We aim to cater for all ages, abilities and needs.

Having just recently been granted the High Commissioners Award the park and activities go from strength to strength.
We now have more rooms and still expanding with street section, bowl, roped climbing wall and a boulder facility.

S E N D Local Offer - Care - Young Carers
Young Carers often take on practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities that would normally be expected of an adult. The tasks undertaken can vary according to the nature of the illness or disability, the level and frequency of need for care and the structure of the family as a whole.
A Young Carer may do some or all of the following:
Practical tasks, such as cooking, housework and shopping
Physical care, such as lifting, helping a parent on stairs or with physiotherapy
Personal care, such as dressing, washing, helping with toileting needs
Managing the family budget, collecting benefits and prescriptions
Administering medication
Looking after or “parenting” younger siblings
Emotional support
Interpreting, due to a hearing or speech impairment or because English is not the family’s first language
ome young carers may undertake high levels of care, whereas for others it may be frequent low levels of care. Either can impact heavily on a child or young person.
Young Carer’s Assessment
A child or young person has the right to be assessed for support when they have the responsibility of helping to care for a parent or significant adult in his/her life who has a mental health, drug or alcohol problem, a chronic illness, or a physical or learning disability. The assessment will look at the effect the problem of caring has on the child/young person; what difficulties they need support with and how the quality of the Young Carer’s life can be improved through the provision of services. The views of the Young Carer on what they think will help them most will be taken into account.
At the end of the assessment, there will be an agreement with the family about what help can be offered from either Social Services or another agency and a plan on how to meet the needs of the Young Carer.
If you are a Young Carer, you need to have time off from caring, time to do the things that other young people may take for granted.
hings like:
Chilling out
Having your own space
Having fun
Talking to someone
Meeting other young people who care for someone
