Births, marriages and deaths

MORE than 100 new-born babies have been registered at Grimsby Family Hubs since the service begun.

The service was announced by the Council in February after the authority received Government funding to support family hubs across the borough, allowing more residents to access services near them.

Before the introduction of birth registrations at four local family hubs, new parents were required to visit the Register Office at Cleethorpes Town Hall to register the birth of their new-born baby.

The 100th baby was registered at one of the Family Hubs last week.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education, said:

“I’m really pleased to see that parents are taking up the offer of birth registrations in our family hubs.

“When we made this announcement in February, four of our family hubs opened their doors to new parents for birth registration, and the aim was to make birth registration more convenient and easier for new parents.

“We also wanted to get parents through the door so they became familiar with their local Hubs and the services that they offer.

“Our Family Hubs put on a range of activities for children, young people and parents – from baby activity groups to advice and drop-in sessions for new parents. They are a one-stop-shop for new parents, and I’d encourage new mums and dads to get themselves along to their family hub to find out what’s on offer.”

To book your appointment and to find out what documents you will need for your visit, see www.nelincs.gov.uk/register-a-birth.

Hubs providing the registration service are:

  • Monday – Immingham, Margaret Street Family Hub
  • Tuesday – West Marsh, Grimsby, Macaulay Street Family Hub
  • Wednesday East Marsh, Grimsby, Victor Street Family Hub
  • Thursday – Nunsthorpe, Sutcliffe Avenue Family Hub
