Order a birth, marriage or death certificate

You can request a copy of a birth, marriage, civil partnership or death certificate if the ceremony or event happened in North East Lincolnshire. Our register office doesn’t hold records for North Lincolnshire Council , East Riding of Yorkshire or Hull City Council .

Fees

Certificates cost £11 for a standard service and £35 for a next working day service (if application is received before 3pm).

The quickest and easiest way to order a replacement certificate is online. However payment can be made in person or over the phone by credit or debit card. These options do incur an admin charge.

Replacement certificates can be collected or sent to you by post.

Request birth, death or marriage certificate

Before you start

Make sure you have the following information ready

Birth certificate

Date of birth
Place of birth
Full name at birth
Parent’s names (including mother’s maiden surname if married at the time of birth)

Death certificate

Date of death
Place of death
Full name of deceased
Date of birth

Marriage certificate

Bride’s full name prior to marriage
Groom’s full name
Date of marriage
Place of marriage (name of the building, church or register office and the address)

Postal applications

If you do not live locally or are unable to visit the register office you can send us your request by post.

You must put your request in writing and include the information listed such as the date, location and full names of those involved.

Please include a postal order made payable to NELC. We do not accept personal cheques.

Adoption

To request a copy of your adoption certificate or birth records you must contact the General Register Office .
