Christmas opening times across North East Lincolnshire Council

General

North East Lincolnshire Council will continue to provide essential services over the festive period. Non-essential services will close at 5pm on Thursday 21st December and reopen on Tuesday 2nd January 2024.

Council services

Council main offices: Municipal Offices and Civic Offices

  • The Municipal Offices are now closed, and will reopen Monday 8 January 2024. These dates have been extended either side of the holidays due to essential work taking place in the reception area.
  • The Civic Offices in Cleethorpes will be closed from Thursday 21 December at 5pm and reopen Tuesday 2nd January as normal.

If you need to speak to someone, the contact centre telephone line (01472 313131) is open as normal until Thursday 21 December at 5pm. It will then reopen from Wednesday 27 December to Friday 29 December, 8:30am to 5pm. This will be a limited service, in line with the essential services open over Christmas. The contact centre telephone lines will then open as normal from Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Crematorium and cemeteries

Bereavement services will be closed from the end of Friday 22 December, reopening on Wednesday 27 December to Friday 29 December. Normal opening hours will then resume on Tuesday 2 January 2024. The grounds at the crematorium and the Book of Remembrance will open as normal for public access. The last date for memorial installations will be Friday 22 December, resuming on Tuesday 2 January. Removals for burial will still be permitted. Bookings will only be taken for Friday 29 December once the previous two days are close to capacity.

Reflections Tea Rooms will follow their usual opening hours of 9am to 4pm, closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. There will be an earlier closing time of 3pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Family Hubs

  • East Marsh Family Hub is now closed until Wednesday 10 January 2024 for refurbishment.
  • Central, Nunsthorpe, Immingham and Reynolds Family Hubs are open 8:30am to 4:30pm over the Christmas period, closing on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. Queensway and West Marsh Hubs will close from Saturday 23 December.

All Family Hubs are closed during the weekend as usual, and normal opening hours will continue Tuesday 2 January 2024 at 8:30am.

Waste collection and street cleaning

Services will continue through the festive period, apart from the bank holidays. Residents can check their collection dates at www.nelincs.gov.uk/refuse-collection-schedule/.

Grimsby and Immingham Community Recycling Centres (the tips) are open every day (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day) from 8am to 6pm, and 8am to 4pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Registration Services

The Registry Office will close at an earlier time of 3:30pm on Friday 22 December, reopening Monday 27 December. The offices will close again on Friday 29 December, reopening for the New Year on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Leisure Services

Information about leisure facilities, including Grimsby Auditorium, the libraries, the leisure centres, and sports facilities can be found on Lincs Inspire’s website, www.lincsinspire.com.

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre

The Fishing Heritage Centre will be closed Sunday 24 December, reopening on Tuesday 28 December. The Centre will be closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, continuing with normal opening hours on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Top Town Market

Normal hours will continue over the festive period (9am to 4pm), with a slightly earlier opening time of 8am on Saturday 23 December. The Market will be closed from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day, and New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Usual opening times from Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Public transport

There are changes to public transport throughout the festive period. Please check amended hours and opening times at https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/local-public-transport-information-christmas-and-new-year-2023-24/.

Age UK

Age UK offices are operating with amended hours over Christmas.

  • Age UK Grimsby (27 Osborne Street): Office will close Friday 22 December at 4pm. It will reopen briefly Thursday 28 December and Friday 29 December from 10am to 2pm. The office will reopen Tuesday 2 January 2024 as normal.
  • Age UK Cleethorpes (20 Wardall Street): The office will close on Thursday 21 December at 3pm and will reopen Tuesday 2 January 2024 as normal.

If a bus pass is going to expire over the Christmas period, the pass holder can go to either of the above offices from Monday 18 December to renew their pass.  When renewing your bus pass, remember to take proof of eligibility.

If you are concerned about an older person or need support yourself, please contact the NEL Single Point of Access (SPA) on 01472 256256 and advice officers will be able to help you.
