Christmas service information round up

General

North East Lincolnshire Council will continue to provide essential services over Christmas and New Year.

Whilst non-essential services will be closed, waste collection and key services that help the most vulnerable will continue to work through the festive period.

Non-essential services will close at 5pm on Thursday 22 December and reopen on Tuesday 3 January 2023. Opening times for essential services will vary.

Help for households

There is a lot of information around staying warm and well, advice about money, activities available through the holidays, and key advice on keeping warm, staying well and safe this winter on the council’s website: Keep warm and well this winter (nelincs.gov.uk).

Meanwhile, details of Christmas opening times for North East Lincolnshire Council and key service partners are as follows:

Council main offices: Municipal Offices and Civic Office

The main offices close to the public at 4pm on Thursday 22 December and reopen on Tuesday 3 January at 8.30am. If you need to speak with someone, the call centre will be open on Wednesday 28 December to Friday 30 December, 8.30am to 5pm. You can always find lots of information on this website.

Waste: Bin days change at Christmas and New Year. Visit www.nelincs.gov.uk/bins to check your bin day online. Grimsby and Immingham Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) are open every day (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day) from 8am to 6pm and 8am to 4pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Cemeteries, Crematorium and Treasured Memories Pet Crematorium: Times for our bereavement services are:

  • Closed from the end of Friday 23 December through to Tuesday 27 December
  • Open Weds 28 December to Friday 30 December inclusive (on Friday 30 Dec, the building will only open between 10am and 2pm for the book of remembrance).
  • Closed 31 December through to 2 January inclusive.

The grounds at the crematorium and cemeteries will open as normal for public access and the digital book of remembrance on the outside of the crematorium building remains open.

Registration Services: Times for our registration services are:

  • Closed from 4pm Thursday 22 December through to Tuesday 27 December
  • Open at 9am, Weds 28 December to 4pm Friday 30 December inclusive (office hours, for birth and death registrations only, booked by appointment).
  • Closed 31 December through to 2 January inclusive.

Family hubs

West Marsh Family Hub closed Thursday 22 December, reopening on Tuesday 3 January.

Central Family Hub closed from the end of Friday 23 December, reopening on Tuesday 3 January.

Nunsthorpe, Reynolds, Queensway and East Marsh Family Hubs are open on 28 to 30 December inclusive. They all then reopen on Tuesday 3 January.

Leisure services: Information about leisure services, including libraries, sports facilities, and the Auditorium are available from Lincs Inspire’s website.

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre: Times are:

  • Closed Friday 23 December to Tuesday 27 December inclusive
  • Open Wednesday 28 December – Friday 30 December
  • Closed 31 December through to 2 January inclusive.

Grimsby Top Town Market: Opening hours

  • Thursday 15 December to Friday 23 December – 9am to 4pm
  • Saturday 24 December – 8am to 3pm
  • Sunday 25 to Wednesday 28 December – Closed
  • Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 December – 9am to 4pm
  • Sunday 1 January – Closed
  • From Tuesday 3 January onwards – Open as usual

Public transport: there are changes to public transport throughout the festive period.

If you are concerned about an older person or need support yourself, please contact the NEL Single Point of Access (SPA) on 01472 256256 and advice officers will be able to help you. This is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even over Christmas. You can find out more information about adult social care by visiting Adult social care – LiveWell (nelincs.gov.uk).
