NORTH East Lincolnshire Council’s Appointments Committee will recommend to a Full Council meeting later this month that Sharon Wroot be appointed as the authority’s permanent Chief Executive.

The recommendation that Ms Wroot, who currently holds the position on an interim basis, is being made following a meeting of the committee – which is made up of members from the authority’s four main political groups.

Following a national recruitment campaign, which attracted a number of credible candidates and included a robust selection process, a unanimous decision was made by the committee members.

As is the correct governance, this recommendation will now go before all elected members for a vote at the meeting on Thursday 26 March.

Ms Wroot has held the position of Interim Chief Executive since June 2025, following the retirement of the former authority chief Rob Walsh.

Prior to that appointment, Ms Wroot – a qualified accountant from North East Lincolnshire – held the role as the council’s Executive Director of Environment, Economy and Resources, and Deputy Chief Executive. Her career with the authority began in 2010 when she joined as Finance Director.
