Local hospice fundraiser, George Kavanagh will be plying his trade at Grimsby Top Town Market on Tuesday 5 September to raise awareness and vital funds for hospice care in the region.

Shoppers and visitors are invited to visit the charity’s stall between 10am-3pm to find out more about the types of care available in the local area and try their chances at a tombola, which will be furnished to the brim with super prizes for lucky participants.

George Kavanagh, Fundraising and Events Coordinator at St Andrew’s Hospice, Grimsby ““My relationship with St Andrew’s is a close and personal one that blossoms evermore each day. Everyday since beginning my work at the hospice, I see first-hand the amazing care they continue to provide with not only the patients, but the families of patients that use our services and the care we provide at the hospice is truly second to none. My father used the hospice over ten years ago and the level of care he received was phenomenal, and I will forever be in debt to the hospice for the work they did with my father all those years ago. But my family are merely a brick in the wall of local people who have used the hospice’s services, and the wall is ever building higher. This is why your support of St Andrew’s is vital, and with the support of local people, we can ensure that St Andrew’s Hospice can continue to provide care for local people with life-limiting illness for another 39 years. Thank you.

St Andrew’s Hospice was invited to the market having been named as Equans North East Lincolnshire contract’s charity of the year for 2023, following an employee vote.

Ella Gascoigne, Equans Employee Forum representative and Market Assistant said “Every year we ask employees to choose a local charity to fundraise for and help through volunteering activities. We have been supporting St Andrew’s Hospice since January, so inviting them to spend the day on the market with us for International Day of Charity was an obvious choice”.

“We are already working up plans of how we can further support St Andrew’s Hospice, share messages about their important work and raise vital funds for their care them throughout Hospice Care Week in September.”

Charities can hold awareness events and activities at Grimsby Top Town Market free of charge. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to arrange this for a charity you are connected with.
