Work on the Transport Hub on a 1.6acre site off Osborne Street in the town centre is progressing, with a planning application for the demolition of vacant units due to be submitted in the coming weeks.

Various surveys are needed to support the planning application, and one of these, the ground investigation surveys, will be happening next week in Garden St car park.

From Monday 20 January, for up to four days, several bays will be cordoned off so that trial pits can be dug, and samples taken. Once this has been done, the trial pits will be covered back over.

The main area that will be cordoned off is next to the rear of the current vacant units. This includes seven bays marked for disabled parking. Notices will be put up at the end of this week to advise people who use the bays.

Over the next few weeks, alongside the submission of the planning application for the demolition of the vacant units, work will be done on the unit formerly occupied by Haven to make it ready for demolition. The Haven Centre is due to open in a new location in the coming month.
