General

Planned electrical works and the installation of a parking area for highway maintenance vehicles will be taking place next month at Pyewipe roundabout within the central island across the A180 Westbound carriageway.

The works will be carried out overnight from Monday 12 October to Friday 6 November, between 8pm and 5am each night.

During the working hours, to ensure the safety of the contractor, the A180 west and eastbound carriageways between Pyewipe roundabout and the Great Coates Interchange will be reduced to one lane.

Once the electrical works are complete, the area will have the required infrastructure in place to allow for the installation of a variable message sign (VMS). VMS provides highway authorities and motorists with a number of benefits, including allowing messages advising of roadworks, events or congestion to be displayed.

The works will be managed and overseen by the council’s regeneration partner, ENGIE, with local contractor, McCann Ltd, carrying out the works.

These works have been co-ordinated alongside the ongoing Estate Road 2 carriage and footway improvements and businesses in the area have been informed of these works.
