Organisers of the popular Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k are pleased to announce the family fun run will once again be returning for 2023.

Thanks to Care Plus Group for sponsoring the event, the first 500 entries are completely free.

“This is fantastic news during our current economic times where many families are trying to spend more wisely,” said Nicola Pattison, Tape2Tape race director. “I am grateful that Care Plus Group are supporting the event and enabling many families to enjoy the run for free.”

Nicola added: “We are delighted to bring you the popular 1km family fun run as part of the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k event. Last year, we had elderly participants from Friendship at Home and a local dementia group taking part, which was amazing to see. Please do sign up and come along. We’d love to see you.”

Lisa Revell, executive director of operations and chief nurse at Care Plus Group, said: “As a key organisation in North East Lincolnshire, we are proud to be able to support both events and invest in our local community. By supporting the Care Plus Great Grimsby Fun Run, we are enabling 500 free places for the local community to take part in this inclusive 1km event.

“It is an excellent opportunity for us as an organisation to support a local event that promotes health and wellbeing, so fits with our values whilst also offering us the opportunity to raise awareness of the excellent work we do in North East Lincolnshire. The events also raise thousands of pounds for charities and good causes and create volunteer opportunities.”

Starting at 9am on Sunday 4 June on the outskirts of People’s Park near to the bandstand, the fun run route takes participants on the tarmac path inside the park before finishing, with about 100m on the grass in front of all the crowds.

You will complete the route through the huge 10k finish arch to the sound of the Taiko Community Drummers.

Everyone will receive a special medal, sweets and a drink. There will also be lots of free activities for everyone to enjoy in People’s Park afterwards.
