Before undertaking any work which requires building regulations approval, it is your responsibility to ensure one of the following is submitted:

Please be aware, to fill in the forms you will need to download the PDF document.

A full plans application is used where you have already prepared detailed plans. The plans need to show the full constructional details of the proposed works. This requires a thorough working knowledge of the Building Regulations and construction in general.

When submitting a full plans application, please include the following information:

A completed Full Plans Application Form (PDF, 306KB)
A full set of plans (e.g a location/block plan to scale of 1:1250, elevations and floor plans, a specification detailing how the works will be carried out)
A completed Drainage form (PDF, 213KB) if an extension/ new dwelling
The appropriate fee

Once the application is valid with us, the plans will be checked by us for compliance with the Building Regulations. Once the plans are deemed compliant, Building Regulations Approval will be issued.

A building notice can be used for minor works in domestic properties. Building Notices cannot be used for work on Commercial Buildings.

If any further information is required from us regarding the Building Notice, we will be in touch.

If building work has already been completed, you will need to apply for building regulations approval retrospectively. This is known as a Regularisation application.
