Summer holiday events; activities….and fun! North East Lincolnshire Council highlights the huge number of things going on to help everyone enjoy their summer.
Looking for ways to keep the children entertained this summer? Whether your family enjoys superheroes, creative workshops, live music, gaming, animals or outdoor adventures, there’s plenty happening across North East Lincolnshire during the third week of the school holidays.
From family fun days and character visits to LEGO® workshops, emergency services demonstrations, theatre sessions and a huge funfair, local organisations are offering a fantastic range of activities to help children and young people stay active, social and entertained throughout the summer.
To help families discover what’s happening on their doorstep, North East Lincolnshire Council will continue sharing daily ideas and events across its social media channels throughout the school holidays.

By showcasing the wide range of activities available locally, we hope to encourage more families to get out, get active, try something new and have fun together. It’s also a great opportunity to meet new people, discover new hobbies and make lasting summer memories.
Here are some of the activities taking place during the third week of the school holidays:
Monday, August 10 (weekly): Inspire Youth Theatre, Climb 4. Weekly sessions every Monday at Centre4. Calling all young performers in NE Lincs – are you ready to take centre stage? Join high-energy workshops in Dance, Drama & Musical Theatre, led by industry experts who know what it takes to shine. Tuesday, August 11: West Marsh Family Hub Summer Fun Day. A fun-filled day for the whole family from 10am to 2pm, with activities, games, prizes and information about local support and services available through Family Hubs.

Wednesday, August 12: Tucker’s Funfairs returns to Meridian Showground with a thrilling instalment of their Mega Fun Park! From 12th August to 1st September families can enjoy high energy rides and family favourites with free parking available. Wednesday, August 12: Join Unseen Arts – LEGO ® Creative Builds at Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. A summer themed workshop for children on Wednesdays throughout August from 10am to 12pm, and 1pm to 3pm. This session: join Unseen Arts to design, build and explore big ideas through LEGO® in this imaginative workshop inspired by local heritage, nature and the future of North East Lincolnshire. £3 per child, ages 6+, no need to book.
Wednesday, August 12: Join Unseen Arts – LEGO® Stop Motion Animation at Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. A summer themed workshop for children on Wednesdays throughout August from 10am to 12pm, and 1pm to 3pm. This session: join Unseen Arts to create your own LEGO® stop-motion film as you learn animation, storytelling and film-making skills in this fun hands-on workshop. £3 per child, ages 6+. Saturday, August 15: Calling all superheroes! Dress up as your favourite hero and enjoy a fun-filled day of superhero action at Freshney Place Shopping Centre. Meet four popular superhero characters during special meet and greet sessions as well as join in exciting superhero activities between 11am and 3pm. *Wristbands for each meet and greet will be available from 10:30am every Saturday. Please arrive early, as wristbands are issued on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.
Saturday, August 15: Summer Fair at Nunny’s Farm! Enjoy lots of crafts, activities and stalls from 10am to 4pm. K-pop Demon Hunters will be at the farm with Once Upon a Party from 1pm until 3pm, and there will be lots of singing and dancing for everyone to enjoy, as well as usual activities, meeting the small animals, pony grooming and sheep walkthrough. There is no need to book.
Saturday, August 15: Meet the people behind the uniforms, learn more about the vital work carried out across our local services, and enjoy a memorable day filled with interactive activities, demonstrations and community engagement at this year’s Cleethorpes 999 Day. Sunday, August 16: Enjoy live music from Family Folk in the historic bandstand at People’s Park, Grimsby. Alongside the live music, there’s plenty to explore including family-friendly activities, nature-based learning sessions, community litter picks, and ice cream! Paint the Town Proud Mural Map: Explore Grimsby & Cleethorpes like never before! Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway: Take a ride on one of Britain’s oldest seaside miniature railways. The railway has been open since 1948, offering a scenic 30-minute journey around the Boating Lake and along the coast. For times, prices and more, visit: https://www.cclr.co.uk/
Horizon Youth Zone: There’s a whole summer programme on at this fantastic centre – and remember, evenings, weekends and during the holidays, young people who are Horizon members can get a bus there for just £1. Go to www.horizonyouthzone.org for more details.

Nunny’s Farm: A community-run petting farm in Nunsthorpe, Grimsby, where visitors can meet and interact with a range of friendly animals, from alpacas and Highland cows to rabbits and ponies. The farm is open daily, with summer opening hours typically 10am to 4pm on weekdays and 10am to 5pm at weekends, making it a great family day out. https://nunnysfarmcic.org/
Waltham Windmill: Step back in time at Waltham Windmill! Explore the historic mill and learn how it works, visit the Museum of Rural Life, and browse the independent shops. The miniature train will be running on Wednesdays and Sundays throughout the Summer holidays. Grab a bite at the café and don’t forget to stop by for an ice cream. Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre: Learn about our fishing heritage at the award-winning Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre where you can discover the lives of British trawlermen in what was once described as the most dangerous peacetime occupation in the UK. The multi-award-winning attraction will transport you back in time to the 1950’s heyday of our famous port with carefully crafted sets and original preserved trawler interiors capture the atmosphere and essence of a remarkable way of life.
