Residents and road users in Waltham are being advised of upcoming carriageway improvement works at the junction of Bradley Road, Barnoldby Road and Waltham Road.

The scheme will include a realignment of the junction and widening of the carriageway on the roundabout to improve traffic flow and safety. As part of the project, the existing footpath will be set back while maintaining its current width.

Additional improvements will include the installation of a new footpath, a new zebra crossing, tactile crossings for pedestrians, updated traffic signs, carriageway resurfacing and new road markings.

The works are scheduled to begin on Monday 30 March 2026 and are expected to last for 12 weeks, with completion planned for Friday 19 June 2026.

The project will be delivered in two phases.

Phase 1 – Civil engineering works (Monday 30 March – Wednesday 10 June)

Work will begin with the removal of the existing traffic islands at the Bradley Road/Barnoldby Road/Waltham Road roundabout. This will take place under an overnight road closure on Monday 30 March between 7pm and 4am.

From 4am on Tuesday 31 March, 24-hour temporary traffic signals will be in place between the Bradley Road/Barnoldby Road/Waltham Road roundabout and the junction of Barnoldby Road and Sterling Crescent in Waltham.

When works are taking place close to Sterling Crescent, access from Sterling Crescent onto Barnoldby Road will be temporarily closed. During this time, access will be maintained via Chestnut Road.

Phase 1 works are expected to be completed by Wednesday 10 June 2026.

Phase 2 – Carriageway resurfacing (Wednesday 10 June – Friday 19 June)

The final phase will include resurfacing the carriageway and installing new road markings.

These works will take place under night-time road closures between 7pm and 4am. Outside of these hours, the road will be fully open to traffic.

During the works, on-street parking will be temporarily suspended in the immediate work area. Residents and visitors are asked not to park vehicles on the road or footpath within the works location to help maintain a safe working area and prevent delays to the programme.

Some local bus services will also be affected. The 9 and 10 bus services will terminate at Cheapside and turn around via Kirk Gate during the works. The 11 service will continue to operate as normal.

Further information about the diversion routes can be found on Stagecoach’s website: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/regional-service-updates/east-midlands/grimsby-cleethorpes.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works.

The council and contractor, EC Surfacing Ltd, apologise in advance for any inconvenience and thank residents and road users for their patience while the improvements are carried out as quickly and safely as possible.
