Young pupils at Woodlands Primary School enjoyed a visit from local School Crossing Patrol Officer Chrissie and her team leader Alison, who spent the morning teaching children about staying safe near roads.

As part of a ‘People Who Help You’ session, the Early Years pupils learned about different types of vehicles they might see on their journey to and from school, the importance of holding an adult’s hand when crossing the road, and how to spot potential dangers near traffic.

The children also took part in a practical demonstration, learning how to cross the road safely with the help of a school crossing patrol officer.

The visit was a huge success, with pupils enthusiastically joining in. One standout participant was Isabella, who made a fantastic young “lollipop lady” as she helped demonstrate safe road-crossing techniques to her classmates.

By introducing road safety skills from an early age, School Crossing Patrol Officers help children build confidence and develop safe habits that will stay with them as they get older.
