Looking for ways to keep the children entertained this summer? Whether your family loves music, crafts, sports, nature, animals or simply getting outdoors, there’s something happening across North East Lincolnshire every day during the school holidays.
From emergency service open days and silent discos, to creative workshops, family fun days and live music in the park, local organisations are putting on dozens of activities designed to help children and young people stay active, social and entertained throughout August.
To help families discover what’s happening on their doorstep, North East Lincolnshire Council will be sharing daily ideas and events across its social media channels throughout the school holidays.
So, if you’re an organisation or group and have something going on, email [email protected] and we will make sure you get a mention. Please mark your email ‘Play Together’.
The idea is that by showing everyone what’s going on, we can get people together to play, to move and to have fun. There’s also the chance to meet new people and enjoy a hobby for the first time.
Here are some ideas of things we know are going on in the second week of the school holidays:
Monday, August 3 (every Monday until October): Laceby Farmers Market is held on the first Monday of the month from April through to October. Families can enjoy bouncy castles, paint a pot and browse a selection of local produce and crafts. It is on from 1pm to 7pm at Butt Lane Playing Field, Laceby, DN37 7AH. Monday, August 3: The Trin is hosting ‘Trin Summer Holiday Club 2026’. Monday 3 August, they have Creative Station Crafts between 10am and 2pm at Trinity Road, Cleethorpes, DN35 8UN. Tuesday, August 4: Fashion Illustration with Meadowsweet & Myrtle at Our Big Picture, Grimsby, 12:30 – 3pm. Free for ages 11 to 16. For more workshops and to book, please visit: https://ourbigpicture.co.uk/

Wednesday, August 5: Join Grimsby in Bloom for their annual Environment Day. This free, family-friendly event will celebrate nature, sustainability and our local environment, with a range of activities, displays and interactive experiences for all ages. The event will be held at Grimsby in Bloom Community Garden, Freshney Drive, Grimsby, DN31 1XE (near Duke of York Gardens) between 11am and 3pm.
Thursday, August 6: Queensway Family Hub Summer Fun Day. Come to East Marsh Family Hub from 10am to 2pm, for a fun-filled day for the whole family! There will be activities, games, prizes and plenty of family-friendly fun for everyone to enjoy. It’s also a great opportunity to find out more about the support, services and activities available for local families through our Family Hubs.
Friday, August 7: One Voice Immingham invites families to their Family Fun Fridays at the Old Library Building, Pelham Road, Immingham every Friday from 6-8.30pm. Get ready for Silent Disco and dancing, pool, darts, air hockey, football table, board games galore (yes, even the ones that get super competitive!) No need to book — just turn up and join the fun. Free to attend, and great for all the family.
Saturday, August 8: Humberside Police NeeNaw Day is back at Grimsby North Police Station from 10am to 3pm. Learn all about emergency services with hands on opportunities with police vehicles, fire engines and interactive demonstrations.
Saturday, August 8: Pennells Garden Centre is hosting a free event for families to come and meet exotic animals with Animals UK between 10am and 3pm. No booking is required and there are no age restrictions.
Sunday, August 9: Enjoy live music from Young Folk in the historic bandstand at People’s Park, Grimsby. Alongside the live music, there’s plenty to explore including family-friendly activities, nature-based learning sessions, community litter picks, and ice cream! Teqball: Have you spotted one of these curved tables in your local park? You’ll find these Teqball tables in some of the area’s parks play areas.
