Upcoming carriageway resurfacing works in North East Lincolnshire

North East Lincolnshire Council and its delivery partner, Equans, are undertaking carriageway resurfacing works to improve the condition of highways across the borough.

These works are part of the Pothole Fund 2023 and is funding allocated from the Government to local highway authorities in England to help repair damage to the local road network. The pothole funding can be allocated to all forms of maintenance projects which will enable the authority to improve the quality of the carriageway and footpaths by repairing and preventing the build-up of potholes across the network. This year, the funding is being utilised for large scale patching and resurfacing work to repair areas of carriageway failure across the borough.

The programme of works include:

Pretymen Crescent, between Station Road and Margaret Place in New Waltham

The works will start on Monday 2 October and will be completed on Tuesday 10 October.

The first phase of works will begin on Monday 2 October to replace damaged road gullies, drainage channels, kerbs and install new tactile paving. These works will be carried out under temporary traffic control between 7:30am and 6pm. Phase one is scheduled to be completed on Friday 6 October.

Carriageway resurfacing and road marking works will follow this and start on Monday 9 October and is scheduled to be completed on Tuesday 10 October. To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, a daytime road closure will be in place each day between 9am and 4pm for the resurfacing.

Please be aware that during the road closure, to enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, vehicle access to premises within the closure will not be permitted. Please also be aware that there will be no vehicle access from Station Road to streets beyond the closure extents, namely Pretymen Crescent, Charles Avenue, Margaret Place, David Place, Rutland Drive, Crofters Grove, and Kaymile Close. Should you need to use your vehicle during the day when the road closure is in place, please ensure it is moved to an appropriate location outside of the closure area before 9am.   

On-street parking will also be temporarily suspended within the closure extents.

Fallowfield Road, between Lavenham Road and 29 Fallowfield Road

The works will start on Monday 9 October and will be completed on Friday 27 October.

The first phase of works will begin on Monday 9 October to replace the damaged road gullies, drainage channels, kerbs and some areas of flagged paving. These works will be carried out under temporary traffic control between 7:30am and 6pm. Phase one is scheduled to completed on Monday 23 October.

Carriageway resurfacing and road marking works will follow this and start on Tuesday 24 October and is scheduled to be completed on Friday 27 October. To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, a daytime road closure will be in place each day between 7:30am and 6pm for the resurfacing. Please be aware that during the road closure, vehicle access to premises within the closure will not be permitted. On-street parking will also be temporarily suspended.

Estate Road 1, between Pyewipe Roundabout and Scania Grimsby

Carriageway resurfacing works will start on Sunday 15 October and will be completed on the morning of Thursday 19 October.

To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, an overnight road closure will be in place each night between 7pm and 6am for the duration of the works. Diversion signs will be in place for vehicles.

Barnoldby Road, junction of Barnoldby Road and Birkdale in Waltham

Carriageway resurfacing works will start on Monday 16 October and will be completed on the morning of Wednesday 18 October.

To enable the works to be carried out and to ensure the safety of the contractors, an overnight road closure will be in place each night between 7pm and 6am for the duration of the works.

The road closure will be in place on Barnoldby Road, between Sterling Crescent and Westfield Road. There will also be no vehicles permitted to exit onto Barnoldby Road from Birkdale. Diversion signs will be in place for vehicles.

Estate Road 5, entrance of Fastnet Fish Ltd

Carriageway resurfacing works will start at 7pm on Tuesday 17 October and will be completed by 6am on Wednesday 18 October.

To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, please be aware that, vehicle access to the premises will not be permitted during the hours of work. On-street parking will also be temporarily suspended in the vicinity of the work area.

Estate Road 7, junction of Estate Road 6 and Estate Road 7

Carriageway resurfacing works will start on Tuesday 17 October and will be completed on the morning of Thursday 19 October.

To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, an overnight road closure will be in place each night between 7pm and 6am for the duration of the works. Diversion signs will be in place for vehicles.

Hewitts Avenue, between Altyre Way and Hewitts Circus Roundabout, in Humberston

Carriageway resurfacing works will be completed overnight on the following nights:

  • Sunday 22 October – between 5pm and 6am
  • Sunday 29 October – between 5pm and 6am
  • Sunday 5 November – between 5pm and 6am
  • Sunday 12 November – between 5pm and 6am

To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, an overnight road closure will be in place on Hewitts Avenue each Sunday night between 5pm and 6am for the duration of the works. Diversion signs will be in place for vehicles.

Please be aware that during the road closure, vehicle access to premises within the closure will not be permitted.

Mill Road, between Fairview Avenue and St Peter’s Avenue in Cleethorpes

The works will start on Monday 23 October and will be completed on Friday 3 November.

The first phase of works will begin on Monday 23 October to replace damaged road gullies and drainage channels. These works will be carried out under temporary traffic control between 7:30am and 6pm. Phase one is scheduled to be completed on Friday 27 October.

Carriageway resurfacing and road marking works will follow this and start on Monday 30 October and is scheduled to be completed on Friday 3 November. To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, a daytime road closure will be in place each day between 7:30am and 6pm for the duration of the resurfacing. Diversion signs will be in place for vehicles.

Imperial Avenue, between A180 Grimsby Road and McDonald’s entrance, in Cleethorpes

The works will start on Wednesday 25 October and will be completed on Friday 3 November

The first phase of works will begin on Wednesday 25 October to replace the damaged road gullies and drainage channels and install new tactile paving. These works will be carried out under a one-way system from A180 Grimsby Road toward McDonald’s entrance between 7:30am and 6pm. Phase one is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday 1 November.

Carriageway resurfacing and road marking works will follow this and start on Thursday 2 November and is scheduled to be completed on Friday 3 November. To enable the works to be carried out and ensure the safety of the contractors, a daytime road closure will be in place each day between 7:30am and 6pm for the resurfacing. Please be aware that during the road closure, vehicle access to premises within the closure will not be permitted. On-street parking on Imperial Avenue, between A180 Grimsby Road and Blundell Park football ground, will also be temporarily suspended.

Please support the contractor by not parking vehicles on the carriageway or footway in the works location to ensure a safe working area can be maintained and to avoid delaying the works programme. If the works are delayed due to parked vehicles, additional days of road closures will be required to enable the works to be completed. Footway access will be maintained at all times.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works. Although every effort will be made to minimise disruption throughout the works, please be aware some elements will be noisy.
