After a recent period of high tides and strong onshore winds, there has been a considerable reduction in sand levels adjacent to the Humberston Fitties coastal embankment. This has exposed the foundations along a 40‑meter stretch of the sea wall.

Inspections are carried out regularly, and following a recent inspection, cracks have been identified on the embankment itself, proving that additional support is needed to maintain the structural integrity.

To ensure this doesn’t get any worse, and to protect the sea wall and maintain its structural integrity, urgent repair work will begin week commencing Monday 23 February. The work will be completed as soon as possible within the week.

The repair work involves the placement of concrete and rock to support and strengthen the sea wall foundations. The rock will be delivered to the car park, near the Yacht club, at the south end of the Fitties chalet park. The rock will then be transported via road and the Anthony’s Bank car park, next to the Chalet Park entrance, to the working area at the north end of the Fitties coastal embankment. The concrete wagon and pump will gain access adjacent to the working area on the beach via the Anthony’s Bank car park.

There are no planned road or car park closures, however people asked to take extra care around construction vehicles moving to and from the site. For safety, dog owners are strongly advised to keep pets on a lead while work is underway.
