Barnoldby Le Beck Community Governance Review
Why undertake a review?
At the request of Barnoldby Le Beck Parish Council, North East Lincolnshire Council is currently undertaking a community governance review in respect of the parish of Barnoldby Le Beck.
The parish council has written to North East Lincolnshire Council to request an increase in the number of parish councillors from five to six. To justify their request, the parish council points out that has been approximately 10 dwellings built in the past 5 years and there is possibility of a further 82 dwellings on land at Bradley Road if the planning application is approved. An outline planning application has already been approved for 66 houses on this site.
The parish council believes that an increase in the number of parish councillors will allow these new residents to be better represented.
The parish of Barnoldby Le Beck currently has an electorate of 301.
Community Governance Review
Following the request, on 17 December 2020, Elected Members from North East Lincolnshire Council agreed to undertake a community governance review to consider this request. A community governance review is a legal process which needs to be followed to determine whether or not to increase the number of parish councillors at Barnoldby Le Beck Parish Council.
As part of that review, the views of local residents, Parish Council, Ward Councillors, MPs, political parties and other key stakeholders are requested.

Please provide your name and address. These will be omitted from the report to Council.
Your views are requested by no later than 28 February 2021.
Please note that all views received will then be fed back to Full Council in March 2021. Based on this feedback, Full Council will be asked to agree a final proposal for Barnoldby Le Beck Parish Council (i.e. whether or not they support the proposal and how/when it should be implemented) which will then be subject to further consultation (this is a legal requirement).
Based on this secondary consultation, a final decision on the request will be made by Full Council later this year. Details of the decision will be published on this web page.
