Review of polling districts, polling places and polling stations 2026

North East Lincolnshire Council is reviewing its polling districts, polling places and polling stations to ensure arrangements remain suitable, accessible and convenient for electors.

The review focuses on creating new polling districts for Immingham Town Council, following boundary changes agreed through the Parish Council Community Governance Review in March 2024. These changes include a north and south split along Pelham Road and must be reflected in the electoral register published on 1 December 2026.

Comments are also welcomed on polling arrangements across the borough, including any issues with accessibility, suitability of venues or alternative arrangements that may better support voters, polling staff and the Returning Officer.

A polling district is the smallest geographical area of the borough used for electoral administration. The borough is currently split into 97 of these and there are between 4 and 10 polling districts per local government ward.
A polling place is a building or area that all electors located within a given polling district go to vote. We try to ensure that each polling place is located withing its respective polling district, but this is not always possible.
A polling station is the building or room within a polling place where voting takes place. Some polling places can have more than one polling station.

A Parish Council Community Governance review concluded on 14^th March 2024, with a report to full Council where it was agreed to make changes to the Immingham Town Council boundaries; the Electoral Registration Officer was asked to incorporate the changes to Immingham Town Ward boundaries and Barnoldby Le Beck and Waltham parish boundaries into the electoral registers to be published on 1^st December 2026.

As a result the Electoral registration Officer now needs to carry out a review of the Polling Districts, Places and Stations within the Immingham Town Council area; while also utilising the opportunity to seek comments on all districts, places and stations within the borough addressing any concerns, such as accessibility issues at the same time.

While the final proposal may differ from these options, it must comply with the established guidance on natural boundaries and the requirement for each Town Council Ward to form its own polling district.
