Smoking

A newly-launched 12-week vape service to help people quit smoking is now available.

Smokers wanting to kick the habit can benefit from the free supply when committing to ditch the cigarettes with North East Lincolnshire Council’s stop smoking service.

With weekly checks, friendly face-to-face support and CO2 monitoring with a wellbeing worker, as well as the option of Nicotine Replacement Therapy and premium access to the Smokefree app, it’s never been easier to quit with our team.

At your weekly appointment, a CO2 reading will be taken to inform the wellbeing worker of the strength of nicotine salt required – hopefully reducing over the 12-week course. A fortnightly order will be made, with delivery direct to your address.

Did you know?

When you stop smoking…

  • Within 20 minutes: Heart rate and blood pressure drop.
  • After 2 days: A harmful gas called carbon monoxide will have left your blood.
  • After 12 weeks: Blood will be pumping through to your heart and muscles much better.
  • After 9 months: Your lungs will be working better and you’ll be breathing easier.

Don’t go it alone

North East Lincolnshire Council’s stop smoking service is on hand to offer a variety of support.

This includes face-to-face support and advice, phone calls/texts and stop smoking aids that can help you to not smoke when you feel you really want to. You can get access to a free vape starter kit, with up to 12-week supply of salts when using the service and meeting regularly with the team, as well as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), such as nicotine patches and gum. You can use more than one of these paths.

The council also offers free six-month premium access to the Smokefree app to set goals, track progress and stay motivated, with expert advisors on hand 24/7.
