A major milestone has been reached for North East Lincolnshire’s Foster Friendly Business scheme, as Grimsby-based events company Tape2Tape proudly becomes its 200th member.
Tape2Tape, known for delivering inclusive, community-focused running events across the Humber region, has joined the growing network of businesses supporting foster carers and raising awareness of the vital role they play.
Founded in 2011, it has earned a strong reputation for organising high-quality events that bring people together, promote wellbeing, and celebrate community spirit. Its portfolio includes the popular Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K, the ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon and 10K, with Family Fun Runs at each event, alongside FitRoutes – a network of 21 walking and jogging trails across Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham.
To show its commitment to local fostering, Tape2Tape will feature the Fostering NEL logo on running bibs at this year’s Ørsted Great Grimsby 10K on 7 June, with nearly 4,000 runners set to wear the message of support across the town.
The organisation is also offering free race places to foster families, helping ensure they can take part in one of the area’s flagship community events.
Nicola Pattison of Tape2Tape said:
“Our races have always been about the community. It’s important for a sense of belonging and making people feel seen and supported. Shining a bright light on fostering just felt so important.”
“I am a proud Grimbarian and look on our community as one big family. It is great to be the 200th member of the Foster Friendly Businesses.”
Tape2Tape’s events attract thousands of runners, volunteers and spectators each year, while also raising significant funds for local charities. Its inclusive approach ensures opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to take part.
The Foster Friendly Business Scheme encourages organisations across North East Lincolnshire to support fostering in practical ways, such as offering flexibility for staff who foster, promoting awareness, or providing opportunities for foster families.
Director of children’s services Ann-Marie Matson said: “Reaching 200 Foster Friendly Businesses is a fantastic milestone for North East Lincolnshire and shows the strength of support we have across our community for foster carers and the children they look after.
“It’s wonderful to welcome Tape2Tape as our 200th member. Their commitment to inclusivity and bringing people together reflects exactly what fostering is all about – creating belonging, support and opportunity for everyone”.
What does it mean to be Foster Friendly?
Being Foster Friendly means being an advocate for our foster carers and children. It’s about showing support in practical ways – whether that’s:
- Displaying NEL fostering leaflets / posters on show and/or if possible offering a discount to foster carers
- Supporting your employees & colleagues if they wish to foster for NEL
- Pledging something special just for our children
Every gesture, big or small, makes a difference. By getting involved, businesses and schools help ensure our children and carers feel heard, respected, and truly part of the community.
