The Corporate and Community Parenting fortnight is back this year with a fun-filled day of arts and crafts that supports the Town of Culture GY28 bid.
On October 30th, North Yorkshire based artist Chris Layfield hosted a themed art day for the Care Leavers community and their children, to create and share their love of Grimsby.
The activities and crafts encouraged participants to explore what they love most about their hometown and their favourite places to visit.
Layfield is known for his engaging doodle story art workshops. He delivers these across the UK in various schools and communities. His creative approach makes art accessible for children and adults to engage their brains and bring excitement to the art.
He helps to bring people together and encourages them to express themselves through imagination and storytelling. The day provided an opportunity for families to do just that!
The completed art will be displayed for the Care Leavers and their children, until it is returned to them at a later date in an aim to keep the GY28 conversations going.
Ann Marie Matson, Director of Children’s Services, has said:
“The art day was a great way to involve the care experienced young people with the GY28 Bid.
“They were able to work together to show their love of Grimsby, whilst making lasting memories with their family.”
As part of the GY28 campaign, the art day supports the town’s cultural ambitions by inspiring the next generation to express their imagination and artistic talent.
