General

Following the relaxation of COVID-19 guidelines on social distancing, the Council will reopen all slipways in Cleethorpes for private craft to access the sea from Saturday 4 July.

In order to access the slipways, members of the public will need to register with the Resort Team at the Beach Safety Office for a permit and key for the slipway gates. The only people able to access the slipways without a permit are the Cleethorpes Inshore Commercial fishermen.

From 9am on Saturday 4 July, the Beach Safety Office will be open for people to register for a permit, but due to COVID guidance, this will have to be done observing social distancing, so there may be some appropriate changes to procedure at the office.

All applicants will be required to supply a photograph of themselves, the craft, trailer and pulling vehicle along with mobile and email address.

Day launch permits are also available, providing 48hours notice is given.

Cllr Callum Procter, Cabinet member for tourism, said: “I’m pleased to see that we’re re-opening up the slipways for people to enjoy the sea, whether for watersports or for fishing. However, people must remember that they need to use these responsibly.”

Please visit the Council’s website, www.nelincs.gov.uk and search for “slipway” to find the list of documents required for the permits.
