Further support for COVID-affected businesses

Following the November national lockdown, North East Lincolnshire has been placed in Tier 3 restrictions until at least 16 December.

This means some of the businesses previously forced to close during November have now reopened. However, the hospitality sector, must remain closed to the public for now, although some businesses can continue to trade by offering, for example a take-away and delivery service.

However, Government announced that there is funding available under the Local Restrictions Support Grants (LRSG) scheme for businesses forced to remain closed under the new arrangements.

During this Tier 3 period, eligible hospitality and indoor leisure businesses (e.g. pubs, restaurants, cafes, theatres and hotels etc.) who have been instructed by government to remain closed, are entitled to a Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG). 

The grants are worth between £667 and £1500 per eligible 14-day period, depending on a property’s rateable value.

Eligible businesses who completed a local authority application form during the November national lockdown WILL NOT NEED to make a new application for this Tier 3 grant.

The local authority will identify eligible Tier 3 hospitality businesses from the last application process and will arrange for a grant payment to be paid automatically for each 14-day eligible period while North East Lincolnshire remains under Tier 3 restrictions.

Government have also announced that an additional grant will be available for pubs that predominantly serve alcohol rather than food, (Wet-led pubs) through the festive period. Further information about the scheme will be released as soon as we have it.

Cllr Philip Jackson, Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “It’s important that we continue to do everything we can to support our local economy. We are issuing these grants as quickly as we can to get money into the hands of those businesses that have been severely affected.”
