Cabinet accepts more than £1m grant funding to improve energy efficiency

Cabinet members have accepted £1,094,500 in grant funding to make energy efficiency improvements to North East Lincolnshire homes.

The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting yesterday, Wednesday 19 January.

The funding supports the council’s commitment to “Climate Local” by driving down carbon emissions, whilst providing warmer homes, reducing fuel poverty, and supporting residents to enjoy improved health and wellbeing.

The funding, which has been made available through Midlands Energy Hub, is available through the Local Authority Delivery 3 (LAD3) Scheme, which aims to improve energy efficiency for those who live in fuel poverty and have lower household incomes.

The funding aims to make keeping warm a financial possibility for a number of people struggling to meet the costs of heating their homes.

Improvement works to the properties may be targeted at low carbon and insulation measures.

This funding is in addition to the Local Authority Delivery 2 (LAD 2) scheme, which aims to improve the energy efficiency of properties rated E, F and G in a Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). 

Examples of energy efficiency improvements include external wall Insulation, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation. 

To qualify for the LAD2 scheme, residents need to be in receipt of a qualifying benefit and living in an EPC rated E, F or G rated property. This scheme is open to owner occupiers, as well as rented properties however there will a landlord contribution.
