General

North East Lincolnshire Council and its regeneration partner, EQUANS, are carrying out footpath and carriageway resurfacing works starting on Monday 12 September on Wellowgate, between Brighowgate and Abbey Road.

The works include replacement of channels and kerbs, drainage works, reconstruction of the footpath and resurfacing of various sections of the carriageway. The project is intended to improve the footpath for both users and owners of local businesses. The improvements made to drainage, carriageways and channels are to assist with the efficient drainage of natural water.

The works will begin on Monday 12 September and are scheduled to be complete on Friday 14 October. The work will be carried out under a 24-hour road closure. Access will be maintained for affected residents as much as safely possible through Duchess Street only, but there may be short periods of time when this will not be possible.

On Thursday 13 October and Friday 14 October, vehicle access will be suspended between 7:30am until 6pm to carry out the carriageway resurfacing works.  Access to the footpath will be maintained at all times. However, please find alternative parking during the road closure. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the works. There will be no vehicular access to Wellowgate Mews during this time.

Although every effort will be made to minimise disruption throughout the works, some elements will be noisy.

During the works, on-street parking will be suspended. People are asked not to park vehicles on the carriageway or footpath in the works location. It is essential that residents and businesses do not park on the street when works are being undertaken to ensure a safe working area can be maintained for the workforce and to avoid delaying the works programme, which would lead to additional days of road closures on Wellowgate.

The council, EQUANS, and contractor EC Surfacing Ltd would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and assure that the work will be completed as quickly and safely as possible.
