Apply for a school place
The School Admissions team administer school place applications for several different processes within the academic year.
You can find information on school admission processes and how to apply below.
Children born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 will be starting school for the first time (Reception year) in September 2025.
The first-round application period for this process closed on 15 January 2025. Applications submitted after this time may be considered late.
The second-round application period for this process will open on 16 January 2025 and close on 16 April 2025.
Information on the application process has been provided to nurseries and childcare providers throughout North East Lincolnshire.
How to apply:
First-round applicants will receive notification of their school allocation decisions by email or via their Portal account on National Offer Day, 16 April 2025.
Second-round applicants will receive notification of their school allocation decisions by email or via their Portal account on 14 May 2025.
All parents/carers are advised to register and apply online as this will allow immediate confirmation of your application submission to the School Admissions Team. You will also receive quicker notification of your school place decision by email/via your Parent Portal account on National Offer Day.
For those unable to apply online, please download and print a copy of the Common Application Form (CAF) (PDF, 134KB) or request a copy from your child’s current primary school or directly from the School Admissions team. Complete and return this form to the School Admissions team.
IMPORTANT – Preferences for SCARTHO GATEWAY ACADEMY / WALTHAM GATEWAY ACADEMY new schools for Reception, September 2025:
If you are selecting either of the Scartho Gateway Academy or Waltham Gateway Academy new schools as a preference on your application, please ensure that you add at least one other preference of school below this. This will allow us to consider your backup preference of school in the event that the new school constructions are not complete for September 2025 admissions.

If your child is currently in year 2 at an infant school they will need to transfer to year 3 at a junior school in September 2025.
All Year 2 children living in North East Lincolnshire and attending Queen Mary Avenue Infants, Scartho Infants, Signhills Infants or an infant school in a neighbouring county will receive information on how to apply in November 2024.

The first-round application period for this process closed on 31 October 2024. Applications submitted after this time will be considered late.
The second-round application period for this process will open on 1 November 2024 and close on 28 March 2025.

Request to change primary school within the academic year.
If you/your child reside in North East Lincolnshire and are considering a transfer from their current primary school, we advise that you read the following information before submitting an application.
Please note that Pilgrim Academy (Immingham) and Reynolds Academy (Cleethorpes) process their own In-Year application requests. Therefore, you will need to contact them directly if you wish to apply for an In-Year school place there:

For those unable to apply online, please download and use the alternative In-Year Primary Common Application Form (PCAF) (PDF, 105KB) or request a copy from the School Admissions team. Complete and return this form to the School Admissions team.

Request to change secondary school within the academic year.
If you/your child reside in North East Lincolnshire and are considering a transfer from their current school, we advise that you read the following information before submitting an application.
In North East Lincolnshire, all secondary school academies process their own In-Year application requests. Therefore, you will need to contact the relevant academy to apply directly with them:

- Cleethorpes Academy
- Havelock Academy
- Healing Academy
- Humberston Academy
- John Whitgift Academy
- Oasis Academy Immingham
- Oasis Academy Wintringham
- Ormiston Maritime Academy
- Waltham Toll Bar Academy
Please allow at least 15 school days from submission of your application to receive notification of decisions. For queries on progress of your application, please contact the relevant academy directly.

Alternatively, you can use the appropriate Common Application Form (CAF) and return to the School Admissions team. Please note that applications submitted for secondary schools will be forwarded to the preferred academies for their processing and any queries on progress should be made directly to the relevant academy. In all cases, please allow at least 15 school days from submission of your application to receive notification of decisions.
